Best place to get a mountain view within an 8-hour drive from Dallas, Texas?

Well, it seems to me that 6-8 hours from Dallas going in any direction except towards the coast will land you in...you guessed it, Texas! (OK, not quite). But all the really great mountainous scenery is located at least 13 hours from Dallas (the Chiricahua mountains, the Smokey mountains, etc.) So below is a list of National Parks in Texas. Big Bend is nice and so is Guadeloupe. But they're not alpine green mountains with waterfalls, lakes, ponds and streams. They're very rugged, yet very beautiful.
